2 Cats Die in Margate House Fire | Pet Pro Plus

Two cats died in a house fire in Margate Saturday, a fire
official said.

Two adults were home when the fire broke out late Saturday
morning at the house at 6487 Margate Blvd., and a man suffered
minor injuries after trying to put it out from the backyard, said
Battalion Chief Jeff Gary of the Margate/Coconut Creek Fire
Department.

The man was treated at the scene.

But ?two cats did perish in the fire,? Gary said.

Two dogs got out OK. The cause is being investigated. Department
spokesman Dan Booker said the fire appeared to have been sparked
in the garage.

Gary said one side of the house is ?pretty much a total loss.?
The Red Cross is going to help with lodging for the couple who
lived there, he said.

They declined to comment.

?Live power lines fell in the backyard, so that?s why we always
advise people never to fight it on their own,? Gary said.
?Contact 911, get out of the residence, and let the fire
department handle the situation.?
